For you to begin with, below are a few quick and healthy smoothie recipes:
1. COCONUT GREEN SMOOTHIE
A healthy green smoothie with a coconut kick!
Preparation Time: 5 minutes, Total Time: 5 minutes
Yield: 1 Serving
1/2 cup coconut milk
1/2 cup plain Greek yoghurt
1 cup spinach
1 large banana, peeled
1 large green apple, cored, peeled and chopped
2 tablespoons shaved coconut (optional)
1 cup ice
Put the coconut milk, yoghurt, spinach, banana, apple, coconut, and ice in a blender. Blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
2. GRAPE BANANA PROTEIN SMOOTHIE
A creamy, 5-ingredient smoothie that’s packed with fresh fruit & protein! This bright, fruity smoothie is a great way to start the day! The recipe is easily doubled to serve more.
½ cup (70g) Red Grapes
½ medium (70g) banana, sliced and frozen
¾ cup (180g) plain nonfat Greek yoghurt
¾ cup (180mL) coconut milk
2 cup (260g) ice cubes
Add all of the ingredients to blender in the order listed, and pulse until smooth. Serve immediately.
Notes: Any milk (cow’s, soy, coconut, etc.) may be substituted in place of the almond milk.
3. CREAMY STRAWBERRY CHIA SMOOTHIE
The deliciousness of strawberries and bananas combined with oats for the perfectly creamy blend to kickstart your day! The recipe is easily doubled to make this a breakfast smoothie for the entire family!
1/2 cup strawberries, frozen
1/2 cup sliced bananas, frozen
1/2 cup kefir or Greek yoghurt
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon oats
splash of vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS: Place all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth! Let it sit for a few minutes so that the chia seeds can do their magic (expand and get slimy). Enjoy!
4. BANANA & COCOA SMOOTHIE RECIPE
The freshness of cocoa along with healthy nutrients from bananas, this smoothie is a quick boost fix! Serve chilled to enjoy as a dessert.
1 small banana
2 tablespoons raw cocoa (raw cocoa powder)
handful of ice
Blend all ingredients until smooth; serve cold.
Tip for your bananas: When bananas start to over-ripen, peel them, 1/2 them, then freeze them. Add them to your daily smoothies as needed for nutrients, fibre and an extra creamy texture
